It is the hope of many that no matter what you do for a living, you’ll always take away something great from it. What have you learned from your current job? Have you held on to the skills you’ve obtained from previous employers?

At EMS, we strive to have happy employees that feel appreciated and knowledgeable. No one is perfect, of course, but we like to arm our employees with the skills they need to deliver exceptional customer service. With an emphasis on training and skill-building, it’s no surprise that we continue to have wonderful customer service agents that impress us regularly. You know who you are!

If you worked at EMS, there are several skills we’d hope that you’d take away from the job. A customer service representative position is not the easiest in the world, but certainly not the hardest.

There are many benefits to working at a customer care center like EMS and here are just a few:

  1. You’ll have the opportunity to harness your customer service skills while working as a customer service representative (CSR). You’ll learn ways to de-escalate a heated situation. You’ll also build customer relationships quickly and efficiently. This is a great skill to have, especially in sales.
  1. Sometimes sales is a part of the equation. Working for a call center might mean up-selling. It might also mean cold calling. If you can become comfortable with doing these things no matter what you do in life, they will help you.
  1. Being in customer service often times means typing while someone is talking. Becoming a fast and accurate typist is definitely something you can use in any future endeavor.
  1. You could become more worldly. A lot of call centers serve clients from all around the world. Working for a call center like EMS gives you the opportunity to learn about other cultures you might not have known about otherwise. It’s a big, beautiful world out there!
  1. Technology could become your new best friend. Call centers use computers, phones, ear pieces and more. Gaining experience in an office setting with new technology is beneficial.
  1. You’ll learn a ton! There’s a lot to discover when it comes to CSR positions. Not only may you learn about worldly things, you’ll also have the opportunity to discover new products and services. Some customer service representatives get the inside scoop. You might be one of the first to know about new products or learn great things about existing locations, deals or services.

There are countless things you can learn from any position or job. Here at EMS, we strive for exceptional customer service, as well as employee retention. We want our employees to learn valuable skills while working here. We want them to grow! Being a CSR is exciting, challenging, rewarding and so much more. We hope you feel the same way about your job, too.
